Backgrounds

Each background provides a number of additional permanent class skills that the character can select from a list of choices. Once selected, a permanent class skill is always considered to be a class skill for the character. If the skill selected is already a class skill for the character, he or she instead gains a +1 bonus for that skill.

City Rat
Bonus Proficiency (Pick one) Martial (any one), Armor (Light), Simple (Shields)
Bonus Skills (Pick two) Appraise, Bluff, Knowledge (civics), Knowledge (streetwise), Profession (courier, drug dealer, mechanic, merchant, or prostitute), and Sleight of Hand.
Other Bonuses +2 insight bonus to Survival skill checks performed in cities and ruins.
Penalty -2 penalty to Survival skill checks performed in the wasteland.
Lone Wanderer
Bonus Feats (Pick one) Desert Dweller, Endurance, Great Fortitude, Iron Will, Lighting Reflexes, Rugged Northerner, or Toughness
Bonus Skills (Pick two) Appraise, Bluff, Knowledge (earth and life sciences), Knowledge (streetwise), Profession (guard), and Survival
Religious

Penalty Tribals are illiterate and cannot read or write unless they purchase at least a single rank in Linguistics.
Vault Dweller

Penalty When exposed to bright light vault dwellers are dazzled as long as they remain in the affected area.
